Lambda Eta Installation

Zeta Tau Alpha installed Lambda Eta Chapter, the 245th link in our Chain of Chapters, on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.

Initiation of the 99 colony members was held Friday, Nov.18, at William Fox Elementary School in Richmond. Teams from ZTA’s Gamma Kappa (James Madison University), Theta Chi (George Mason University), Gamma Nu (University of Virginia), Iota Sigma (Old Dominion University) and Kappa Phi (Christopher Newport University) chapters conducted the services. Chapter President Abigail Banks was initiated on Saturday morning, Nov. 19, before the Chapter Installation and Installation of Chapter Officers conducted by Extension Director Marlene Dunbar Conrad and ZTA Foundation President Becky Hainsworth Kirwan.

A Celebratory Luncheon was held for the chapter members, family, friends, alumnae and university guests at the Richmond Marriott following the chapter Installation. Mrs. Conrad served as toastmistress for the event while alumna Robin Gardner was the installation chairman. Traveling Leadership Consultant Anastacia Ansell gave the invocation while Lambda Eta Chapter Music Chairman Subha Wagley led in the singing of the “Zeta Prayer.”

Following lunch, ZTA Director of New Chapters for Lambda Eta Chapter Shannon York and VCU Associate Director of Programs & Educational Services Dr. Carolyn E. Whittier welcomed guests on behalf of the Fraternity and university. Chapter President Abigail Banks also addressed the crowd before Mrs. Kirwan gave the keynote address.

Following ZTA tradition, Province President III-B Sandy Banowsky Brindley, Province President III-G Alison Ward and District President III-B Tanya Zelger Amme presented Lambda Eta Chapter with gifts from nearby collegiate and alumnae chapters. TLCs Anastacia and Jessica Kotsay presented Abigail with the president’s gavel and the chapter with the traditional silver baby cup, symbolic of ZTA’s newest chapter. On behalf of the Fraternity, Mrs. Conrad gave the chapter a silver tray and punch bowl.

During the celebration, Mrs. Kirwan and Executive Director Deb Ensor presented the university with a $1,000 to VCU’s scholarship fund in honor of the chapter installation. TLCs Anastacia and Jessica also introduced each chapter member and provided a video of Lambda Eta’s accomplishments this fall. Ms. Ensor closed the luncheon with remarks and a ZTA song.
