Zeta Tau Alpha installed Lambda Iota Chapter, the 247th link in our Chain of Chapters, on Saturday, March 24, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
Initiation of the 99 colony members was held Friday, March 23, at the Scarritt Bennett Center on campus. Teams from ZTA’s Beta Lambda (University of Louisville), Delta Mu (The University of Tennessee at Martin), and Iota Chi (Middle Tennessee State University) chapters conducted the services. Chapter President Jordan Sala was initiated on Saturday morning, March 24, in the Benton Chapel on campus before the Chapter Installation and Installation of Chapter Officers, conducted by National President Keeley McDonald Riddle and Extension Director Marlene Dunbar Conrad.
A Celebratory Luncheon was held for the chapter members, family, friends, alumnae and university guests at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel following the chapter Installation. Mrs. Conrad served as toastmistress for the even,t while alumna Julia Newman was the installation chairman. Traveling Leadership Consultant Liz Austin gave the invocation and Lambda Iota Chapter Music Chairman Georgie Hattier led the singing of the “Zeta Prayer.”
Following lunch, ZTA Director of New Chapters for Lambda Iota Chapter Raechel Bennett Biggs and Vanderbilt Director of Greek Life Kristin Shorter welcomed guests on behalf of the Fraternity and university. President Jordan Sala also addressed the guests on behalf of the chapter before Mrs. Riddle gave the keynote address.
Following ZTA tradition, Province President XVI-B Susan Williams and District President XVI-B Melissa Still presented Lambda Iota Chapter with gifts from nearby collegiate and alumnae chapters. TLCs Liz Austin and Lauren Vardaman presented Jordan with the president’s gavel and the chapter with the traditional silver baby cup, symbolic of ZTA’s newest chapter. On behalf of the Fraternity, Mrs. Riddle and Mrs. Conrad gave the chapter a silver tray and punch bowl.
During the celebration, Mrs. Riddle and Mrs. Conrad presented Ms. Shorter with a $1,000 donation from the ZTA Foundation to Vanderbilt’s scholarship fund in honor of the chapter installation. TLCs Liz and Lauren also introduced each chapter member and provided a video of Lambda Iota’s accomplishments this spring.
