Four or more interested ZTA alumnae in a community or geographic area may form an alumnae club. A chairman is the only officer necessary at first, but a President and Secretary-Treasurer are recommended during the organizational period. As soon as an alumnae club or group of alumnae reaches a stable membership of 10 or more members in good standing and passes through a brief organizational stage, it may apply for chartered status.
Alumnae extension is the responsibility of the District President. This volunteer officer provides assistance and guidance to alumnae in her district by building interest among area members and by helping to plan the beginning organization of each new group.
ZTA forms new alumnae organizations for many reasons: to support an existing collegiate chapter; to support a collegiate colonization; to provide a group for ZTA alumnae who live in a locale without an existing alumnae organization; and to split a large, existing alumnae group into closer geographical segments
Starting an alumnae chapter is as easy as 1-2-3!
- Make Contact! Every area has an assigned District President (DP), who is ready to assist you in organizing an alumnae chapter. Log in to Sisters Only to locate your DP and her contact information.
- Search for Interest! Your DP will give you a membership list that identifies nearby Zetas. One of the easiest ways to reach alumnae is with a survey by mail or e-mail. These will help you determine who is interested in forming an alumnae club, when they’d like to meet, what they’d like to do, etc. Follow-up with a phone call. If the response is favorable, start planning an organizational meeting.
- Make It Happen! Again, your DP will assist you in planning your event. After the event, follow-up by phone or e-mail with those who attended, thank them for their interest and provide information about the next meeting. If there are more than four interested Zetas in the community, you are able form a club. Once you send an Officers List to International Office, the staff will send you the necessary materials to get your club established. As soon as your group of Zetas has reached a stable membership of more than 10 members in good standing and has passed through a brief organizational stage, application should be made for a charter, which enables the group to become an official chapter.
