Birmingham-Southern College, home of Alpha Nu Chapter, closing spring 2024
Zeta Tau Alpha is heartbroken to share that Birmingham-Southern College announced it will be closing in May 2024. Unfortunately, this means Alpha Nu Chapter will also close at that time.
Alpha Nu was founded on Oct. 7, 1922, making Zeta Tau Alpha the first national sorority chartered at Birmingham-Southern. For more than 100 years, these sisters have exemplified what it means to “Seek the Noblest.”
Of the 1,071 sisters initiated into Alpha Nu, nine have served as National Officers. Ten sisters have earned their Honor Ring, the highest individual recognition in ZTA, and 14 have received their Certificate of Merit. Chapter alumnae have also served on both National Council and the Fraternity Housing Corporation board.
The chapter has consistently demonstrated success, earning financial excellence and scholarship achievement awards, as well as achieving Crown Chapter 20 times. Impressively, Alpha Nu has also won 10 Silver Awards, ZTA’s highest national honors, for scholastics, membership and all-around excellence.
Thank you to every Alpha Nu sister, chapter advisor, Collegiate National Officer and FHC volunteer for the important contributions you've made to the chapter, the community and the school. Zeta Tau Alpha is thinking of you in the wake of this news.
We hope our Alpha Nu members, both collegiate and alumnae, feel the full support of the Fraternity as they process the closing of their collegiate home. We ask sisters everywhere to please help Alpha Nu continue to feel Zeta Love, make great ZTA sisterhood memories and remember that Zeta Is Forever.
ZTA will always be so proud of the 39th link in our Chain of Chapters. While the chapter will close at the end of this semester, the link will never be broken.
