ZTA Foundation Announces Grace Grants

Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and the ZTA Foundation have announced they will provide Grace Grants for the 2020-2021 academic year to assist collegiate members who have experienced a direct financial impact from of COVID-19.

The name honors the grace with which our members approached each other during the pandemic and one of ZTA’s first new members, Grace Estelle Elcan. In the explanation of the Mystifying Picture, Grace is wearing a chain of flowers and is described as “a child of nature, one of the most perfectly natural people I ever knew, sweet to the core.”

The pandemic has had an impact on each and every ZTA member. For some, the ability to afford the sorority experience along with tuition and other fees will be particularly difficult this coming year. Therefore, the Foundation and Fraternity have committed to providing a minimum of two $1,000 Grace Grants to members of every ZTA chapter in early August.

Grace Grants will have the following parameters:

  • All current undergraduate collegiate new members and members, including fifth-year seniors, in good standing are eligible to apply. Applicants must return to school and the chapter for 2020-2021.
  • The scholarship committee will consider the applicant’s academic achievement and activities, but the review will emphasize financial need. Applicants should convey how their need is directly associated with COVID-19, such as loss of job/income or medical bills from treatment for the virus.
  • Each applicant will need a recommendation from a ZTA advisor, National Officer or current alumnae chapter officer with direct knowledge of the applicant’s financial need.
  • Grace Grants do not have a grade point average requirement.
  • The application and recommendation deadline is 11:59 p.m. EST, July 15.

Note: Recipients of ZTA Foundation Scholarships for 2020-2021 are not eligible for a Grace Grant. Members who applied for a regular ZTA Foundation Scholarship for 2020-2021 but did not receive one may apply again if their financial situation is now COVID-19 related.
