ZTA Foundation Announces Return of Grace Grants

Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and the ZTA Foundation have announced they will again provide Grace Grants for the 2021-2022 academic year to assist collegians. The application will go live June 15.

The name honors one of ZTA’s first new members, Grace Estelle Elcan. The explanation of the Mystifying Picture describes Grace, who is wearing a chain of flowers, as “one of the most perfectly natural people ... sweet to the core.”

The past year has impacted each and every ZTA member. The ability to afford the sorority experience along with tuition and other fees can be challenging, especially with the increases that come with an education each year. Therefore, the Foundation and Fraternity have committed to providing a minimum of one $1,000 Grace Grant to a member of every ZTA chapter.

Grace Grants will have the following parameters:

  • All current undergraduate new members and members in good standing, including fifth-year seniors, are eligible to apply. Applicants must return to school and the chapter for the 2021-2022 year.
  • The Scholarship Committee will consider the applicant’s academic achievement and involvement, but the review will emphasize financial need. Applicants should convey the circumstances associated with their significant need of assistance. This year, financial need does not have to be related to COVID-19.
  • Grace Grant applications are not complete without a recommendation from someone with direct knowledge of the applicant’s financial need. Recommendations can come from:
    • A ZTA advisor, National Officer or current alumnae chapter office
    • A professor
    • An employer
  • Grace Grants do not have a minimum GPA requirement.
  • The application and recommendation deadline is June 30 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Note: Recipients of ZTA Foundation scholarships for 2021-2022 are not eligible for a Grace Grant. Members who applied for a regular ZTA Foundation scholarship for 2021-2022 but did not receive one may apply for a Grace Grant if they have a significant financial need.
