ZTA sponsors Hart Institute for Social Event Planning

Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity is proud to renew its sponsorship of the Hart Institute for Social Event Planning, presented by Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Holmes Murphy. “As an organization that believes in the safety of its members as well as the professional development of fraternity/sorority life professionals, we were honored to champion the inaugural institute and are proud to continue our support for its fourth event. The Hart Institute is the only interfraternal prevention training of its kind,” said ZTA Executive Director Meghan Parker.

The institute will take place June 12–13, 2017, at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration will open in March 2017, and, thanks to the support of the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, 10 registration scholarships will once again be available to ZTA volunteers and campus fraternity/sorority professionals. “The institute is intended to ‘train the trainer’ and equip campus-based professionals, as well as staff members from inter/national headquarters, to not only better understand their own risk management policies, but also to implement strategies to train students, staff and volunteers on how to plan and host safe and successful social events,” according to Pi Kappa Phi’s website.

The program’s namesake, Dr. Lori Hart, is a leader in collegiate prevention education. In the past, she was a featured speaker at ZTA’s International Convention and National Leadership Conference. Dr. Hart will lead the institute. ZTA Senior Director of Harm Reduction & Education Kyle Pendleton will also facilitate portions of the programming.

ZTA values its harm reduction partnership with Pi Kappa Phi, which has been deliberate and intentional in educating members and key constituents on harm prevention. Together, we have created and provided innovative prevention resources for students and professionals. Sponsorship of this institute once again shows ZTA’s commitment to student safety and the advancement of campus harm reduction initiatives.
