Our podcast opens with an upbeat but sentimental song playing in the background. Layered over it, Shirley Kreason Strout, who wrote The Creed of Zeta Tau Alpha, voices specific lines of The Creed:
- To realize, that within our grasp, in Zeta Tau Alpha, lies the opportunity to learn those things which will ever enrich and enoble our lives
- To be true to ourselves and to those within and without our circle
- Devotion to the Right, the Good, and the True
- To seek understanding, that we might gain true wisdom
As the music fades, our host, Hailey Mangrum comes in, saying:
"Thanks for tuning in to the My Zeta Story Podcast, hosted by Zeta Tau Alpha, a women's fraternity established in 1898.
This podcast isn't just for fraternity or sorority members. Whether you're a member or not, we invite you to listen, as Zetas from across all areas of the organization share what it's like to be them. We'll get to their their personal story and how being a Zeta has impacted their lives.
Of course, we'll discuss identity, what it means, and its connection to the sorority experience. And, life in general, because—let's be honest—life is a journey, am I right? And we all have a story to share which can be powerful in creating space for visibility, solidarity and seeking understanding. This podcast will serve as a vessel for offering an authentic way of recognizing, uplifting and sharing real stories It's a chance for all of us to learn. It's a stage, set to amplify voices so that we grow genuine understanding and genuine compassion for the individuals around us.
It's about remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was, and still is, Love the greatest of all things.
Oh, and the host? My name is Hailey Marie Mangrum. I work at International Office for Zeta and I believe in the power we have in sharing our stories, sharing our moments, and sharing our experiences to empower others and help them feel less alone.
So, we invite you to tune in for a new story each month from a Zeta alumna or collegian.
And if you can't tell already, we're pretty excited and we hope you are, too! Be sure to subscribe to our podcast and share with a friend of a friend of a friend and a loved one so no one misses an episode.
We'd love to share this journey with you as we continue to Seek the Noblest."
As Hailey wraps up, the theme music fades back in. After she finishes speaking, the recording of Shirley Kreasan Strout comes back in with the final line of The Creed: "Remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was Love, 'the greatest of all things.'"
