Remembering Dianna Buck Conaty
With great sadness, we share that former Vice President Collegiate I Dianna Buck Conaty passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, in Cary, North Carolina. She would have been 75 on Sept. 10.
Mrs. Conaty was initiated at Beta Omicron Chapter (University of South Carolina) on Oct. 19, 1965. She became chapter President and, after graduation, traveled for ZTA as a Leadership Consultant for the 1968-1969 academic year.
She served as Province President III-B in Virginia from 1979 to 1981 and Province President III-A in Maryland from 1981 to 1983. In October 1995, she was appointed to National Council as Vice President Collegiate I and was elected to that position at Convention 1996 and the Centennial Convention in 1998. She stepped down from National Council for health-related reasons in July 1999.
Her service to ZTA included time as Mentor to Eta Xi Chapter (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), the chair of the Alumnae-Collegiate Relations Committee and a member of the Standards Committee and Academic Achievement Committee. She was always an active member of her local alumnae chapters in Northern Virginia and Wilmington, North Carolina. Her sisters will remember her many roles in Convention “Fun Night” skits.
Mrs. Conaty received the Certificate of Merit in 1981, the Honor Ring of the Fraternity at Convention 1982, and the Order of the Shield, representing 50 years of membership, in 2015.
She is survived by Tom, her husband of 52 years, and their three sons, Cliff, Chad and Dan. Services are pending at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia.
