Sisters in Letters, Partners in Teaching
As she walked through the parking lot at her new school four years ago, Alexandria noticed a ZTA sticker on the back of a car. At her first team meeting that day, she immediately asked, “Who’s the Zeta in here?” Jamie’s hand immediately shot up and from that moment, a lasting friendship, partnership and sisterhood was born.
Jamie (pictured left) and Alex (pictured right) are fifth-grade teachers in Tampa, Florida. They share the same group of students—Jamie teaches English and language arts for half of the day, while Alex takes over for math and science. When they began their teaching partnership, they knew they were sisters, but four years later, they’ve also become best friends. Describing each other as “the same person,” Alexandria says they’re always finishing each other's sentences.

“It’s amazing to see how our two Zeta personalities align so perfectly,” Alex says. “When we discovered we were sisters, we already knew we were essentially the same person, so it just made perfect sense.”
Their teaching styles complement each other as well. “As a teacher, Jamie truly cares for the whole child—their academics, social life and personal well-being both inside and outside of school. That’s something we need more of in education,” Alex says.
Similarly, Jamie praises Alex, noting, “She would give anyone the shirt off her back, always showing up for her students and never hesitating to help when needed.”

Both in and out of school, they live out The Creed of Zeta Tau Alpha daily. They describe each other as always willing to lend a helping hand, even when their plates are full. “Jamie always looks for the good in everyone, and she inspires me to be a better person,” Alex says. Meanwhile, Jamie shares how Alex remains true to herself, constantly sharing her love and light with everyone around her.

Jamie’s daughter and Alex’s son have grown into best friends-turned-“siblings” with two incredible role models. Alex and Jamie know they are friends for life, bound by an unbreakable connection that began with unknowingly sharing the same letters—an enduring testament to how Zeta sisterhood truly lasts forever.
