Zeta Tau Alpha Grieves Loss of Sister at Thiel College

Zeta Tau Alpha is mourning the death of Toby Atwood, President of Zeta Beta Chapter at Thiel College, who passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Toby, 21, from Kittanning, Pennsylvania received a full scholarship to Thiel and was heading into her senior year as a major in accounting and business administration. Before serving the chapter as President, she also held the roles of Vice President Harm Reduction, Vice President Member Experience, Director of Sisterhood, Music Chair and Signs Chair. She was also the recipient of a ZTA Foundation scholarship.

She was also an active member of the Thiel community as Captain of the tennis team, President of the Student Athlete Committee, President of national honor society Lambda Sigma, Treasurer of Order of Omega, and member of Thiel Team.

The chapter shared this sentiment: “Toby was a light in everyone’s life. There was never a dull moment with her and she was always there for the people she loved when they needed it. Toby truly left her mark while she was with us. She was seen as a leader, role model and mentor. She was strong, resilient, and never afraid to speak her mind. There will forever be a hole in our hearts and our chapter without her. She has touched the lives of so many.”
