ZTA Foundation Awards Grace Grants
The ZTA Foundation awarded $516,000 in Grace Grants to over 500 collegiate members of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Grace Grants were created specifically for the 2020-2021 academic year to help those who experienced a direct financial impact from COVID-19. The Fraternity and the ZTA Foundation partnered to provide $1,000 grants to 516 members, based on their financial need.
The name of the grants honors the grace with which our members approached each other during the pandemic and one of ZTA’s first new members, Grace Estelle Elcan.
“The pandemic has had an impact on each and every ZTA member,” said National President Alicia Patten Williams. “For some, the ability to afford the sorority experience along with tuition and other fees is difficult this year. We are grateful we can help is this way.”
The ZTA Foundation’s Scholarship Committee reviewed each application and selected members with the greatest financial need. “It was humbling to learn how great the need was and gratifying to be able to help,” said Foundation President Carolyn Hof Carpenter. “We were able to provide at least two grants for each collegiate chapter. This partnership with the Fraternity was unique and we know our Founders, and Grace Elcan, would be proud of our efforts.
In addition to the Grace Grants, the ZTA Foundation also awarded $858,070 in scholarships to 294 collegiate and alumnae members for the 2020-2021 academic year.
