ZTA Mourns Loss of Indiana University Chapter Member
Zeta Tau Alpha grieves the death of Avery McMillan, a beloved member of Alpha Xi Chapter at Indiana University, who passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Avery, 20, from Valparaiso, Indiana, was entering her senior year. She joined ZTA in March 2020 and was a dedicated member who cared for her ZTA sisters. Avery previously served the chapter as Intramural Chair and noted on leadership application materials that, “It is important to me to see everyone smiling and happy.”
“Avery was intentional about building relationships,” said Ella Gebke, chapter President. “She went out of her way to be an involved and present member of the chapter, making an effort to know everyone.” Fellow senior and former chapter President Megan Dunbar said, “Avery was so funny and always the first to give a big hug. She remembered the details of your life and would ask how things were going.”
ZTA Fraternity leaders, chapter advisors and the university staff and counseling services are providing support to members of Alpha Xi Chapter.
Zeta Tau Alpha sends its deepest sympathies to Avery’s family during this difficult time.
Chapters and individuals who wish to offer condolences to Alpha Xi Chapter may send them to International Office:
